WELCOME TO THE PLUMAS NATIONAL FOREST ! It is our wish to make your visit as enjoyable as possible. Forest Service personnel are available to offer any information or assistance you may need. Generally, fee campgrounds are open from April through October. Those at higher elevations open in mid to late May. Facilities furnished at these developed recreation sites are for your comfort and convenience. Fees and other helpful information will be posted on the bulletin board at the entrance to the campgrounds. Fees are charged at campgrounds having a developed water system, maintained restrooms and garbage collection. Campgrounds that are identified as "Self Service" charge no fees and depend upon you to take your garbage with you, furnish your own toilet paper, and keep the restrooms clean. Most of the Plumas National Forest, outside of developed recreation sites, is open to vehicular camping. Stop at the local Ranger Station for campfire permits and detailed information on areas open to dispersed camping. Open water sources are easily contaminated by human or animal waste. Water from springs, lakes, ponds, and streams should be properly treated before drinking. One recommended method of treatment is to bring clear water to a rolling boil for five minutes. It is the policy of the Forest Service
not to discriminate in the delivery of program services on the basis of race, color, sex,
age, religion, national origin, or disabling condition. If you believe you have
been discriminated against, write to: THE FOLLOWING POINTS WILL HELP MAKE YOUR VISIT AND THE VISIT OF OTHERS MORE ENJOYABLE: Please observe all RECREATION AND CAMPFIRE RULES. Our green forests are for your enjoyment and relaxation. We need your help to keep them green. STATE AND COUNTY ORDINANCES apply in National Forests. The poster "Welcome To Your National Forests" is placed on our campground bulletin boards to inform you of important RULES AND REGULATIONS. FIREARMS, including air rifles, may not be discharged in developed recreation sites. Our song birds, birds of prey, and much of our wildlife are protected. Enjoy them - don't destroy them.
MOTORCYCLES, MOTORBIKES, or other off-highway motor vehicles are only allowed on Forest roads within developed recreation sites. DOMESTIC PETS are welcome in the National Forest, but they must be kept on a leash at developed recreation sites so as not to be a nuisance to other people. POLLUTION is the enemy of our lakes and streams. Please help to preserve them and keep them clean. Wash food and personal items away from drinking water supplies. Extend the same courtesies and consideration to your fellow camper as you would expect of them. Help preserve our NATIONAL HERITAGE. Historic and prehistoric relics and artifacts are protected on National Forest system lands. PLUMAS NATIONAL FOREST |
